Institutional background

About Us

Regulatory Body of Drinking Water and Sanitation Services - ERSAPS.

It is the State institution of Honduras responsible for regulating and controlling water and sanitation services nationwide. Its objective is to guarantee that the population receives quality, efficient, sustainable, and accessible services.

To achieve this, it applies technical standards that allow supervising and evaluating service providers, also promoting citizen participation to strengthen transparency and local management. It is a decentralized entity, attached to the Ministry of Health, with functional, technical, and administrative autonomy.

The board consists of:
  • Coordinating Director: Attorney José Luis Melara Murillo.
  • Director: Dr. Jenny Mercedes Meza.
  • Director: Engineer Franklin Amaya.

Frequently Asked Questions

Here you will find answers to the most frequent questions about our services.

You must present your claim, complaint, and/or request to your drinking water and sanitation service provider, who must issue a resolution on the case; against the denial or silence of your Water and Sanitation Service Provider, you may take action by filing the claim with the Local Supervision and Control Unit (USCL); if your municipality does not have a USCL, you must take action with the Municipal Supervisor of the provider. If the previous entities do not issue a resolution or if they did and you consider that your rights are not being respected, you can file your claim with this Regulatory Body.

Water Administrative Boards must report to ERSAPS once a year, regarding the previous fiscal year, the deadline to report is April 30 each year, you can submit the corresponding reports through our website in the "Your ERSAPS space" section. If you need help submitting the reports, you can request support from the TRC and USCL in your locality or contact us through our channels.

The requirements for Board of Directors registration are:

• Certification of the meeting minutes of the board election issued by the JAA secretary.
• Copy of Legal Status
• Copy of National Identification Document (DNI) of the Board members.
• Assembly attendance list.
• Assembly call notice.
• Municipal Mayor's certificate.
